Review of Ward 2 SSU written by

The staff were extremely kind during my stay in Ward 2. However, I was unhappy with the lady who dealt with my discharge, she made what I felt was an inappropriate comment to me.

Thank you. My. 36 yr old Husband arrived at MK a&e Thursday night, around 9pm and promptly had a heart attack in the reception area - he collapsed and required cpr. He was subsequently transferred to Oxford where be has had a stent and is recovering well. I don't know how to thank the staff at the hospital but they were amazing. They contacted me to come in asap, they took my children to the children's ed and looked after them. Thank yiu so much. I can only remember a few names of people I met that night - Dr Nikos, Sally (who went in the ambulance) Steph, Mandy and Chris (who contacted me); Thank yiu so much to all of your staff, they are all amazing..

My mum called 999 because my dad fell and she couldn't get him up, the ambulance arrived within 10 minutes maybe less. They were very kind and attentive and also made sure my mum was ok too. When we arrived in A & E it seemed quite busy but we were seen quite soon by the nurse and she made sure what was happening along the way. My dad had a head scan and although it took a while for the results to come through we could see everyone was really busy so just waited. The nurse that cleaned his head was kind and friendly having a joke with us all which is nice! Everyone we came across was a credit to the NHS ! Well done under these difficult times !

Review of Labour Ward written by a patient
12th April 2018

I cannot fault the service provided by everyone involved in the recent delivery of my baby, and will carry fond memories of every part of the experience. Everyone I met was experienced, professional and compassionate and made me feel completely confident in labour and during delivery. I had an unexpectedly fast progression in labour, where contractions went from almost non-existent to delivery within an hour, so there was quite a dash trying to get me from Ward 9 to Labour in time. I was really impressed with how calm everyone stayed, and how fast they reacted to the situation. The delivery rooms are really nicely done, and the pools look amazing. Paperwork was all filled out seamlessly, and we were back home within a few hours. It was the best birth I could have hoped for.

Review of Emergency Department written by a patient
31st March 2018

my first visit to milton keynes A&E on 30/03/2018 was not good at all,i arrived and was sweating and fighting for breath to a point of barely able to talk,i had to see a nurse before i could get to reception. The nurse did not look up from her computer screen once until i questioned her about having to walk half a mile to the walk in clinic when i could barely walk the 15 meters through the door, but i was told its a 2 minute walk so reluctantly i set off...this 2 minute walk took me 25 minutes and several stops all in the rain, when i got to the walk in clinic i was in a horrendous state and ever though it was full i was seen within minutes. In the walk in center i was put on a machine to help me as my blood oxygen level was around 60...i was told i could of collapsed on my way and should have never been allowed to make the trip by myself,i was at the walk in center for 2 hours before i saw a DR who then made me walk to his examination room where within 90 seconds he was taking me back to the breathing machine where he gave me steroids and a double dose of the nebuliser and once that was done i was taken back to his examination room(remember walking was making my breathing very very labored)on arrival withing 60 seconds i was taken back to the room with the nebuliser and placed on oxygen and told a blue flashing ambulance was being called as i needed to be in A&E.(the walk in clinic is making an official complaint about how i was sent away in my condition where i could have gone into respiratory failure and collapsed and died) The ambulance arrived swiftly and i was helped and treated amazingly the 2 crew members were awesome,i was taken to the ambulance via a wheel chair(first time anyone thought about that)getting into the ambulance i took 5 steps and the crew saw the difference it make on my breathing and the stats they were monitoring, they were both stunned i had managed to walk from A&E.(the 2 crew members advised me to make a complaint as even though i was ok the next person may not) 2nd visit to A&E 30/03/2018 the 2 ambulance crew took me into A&E where i should have been 3 hours before,Once in A&E i have nothing but great respect and admiration for all the staff....they were truly great,i was whisked into a ward/section where DR's and nurses sorted me out, they made me feel safe and confident i was going to be ok.i was there for 2 hours 45 minutes where i was taken care of 24/7 words are not enough words to say how great everyone was. I do not wish anyone to get into trouble for sending me away from A&E as things happen and we cannot be 100% right all the time but i would think some training will be needed as anyone with breathing difficulties should not be pushed away within 25 seconds, surely an assessment cannot be made by asking my name/dob/address ??? i personally felt terrified at a 1/2 mile walk with the knowledge the 15 meters put me at a state of barely able to talk my breathing was so bad

Keep the waiting rooms temperatures slightly lower at night time as it can get quite stifling. Nothing else to add.

I visited on the morning of 22nd March 2018. Every member of staff I encountered was friendly and helpful, including the admin staff. The nurses I saw in both Urgent Care and A&E made me feel involved in my care, treated me as a competent adult and explained their medical opinions so that I properly understood my treatment, as opposed to treating me as just a body to fix. All staff were absolute assets to the NHS and to MKUH.

I would like to say enormous thanks to everyone on Ward 1 for helping me with my pneumonia treatment. All the staff were exceptional espicially nurses Caz and Matt, Dr Lindsay who let me go home, Dr Rowena such grace and charm, the jolly drinks lady and the lady who ran after me when I left my Pyjama botttoms behind, Watching the Morning shift arrive through the snow and all safely relieve the exhausted night shift was inspirational. Thank you all
